I just finished working 7 days straight, and sadly wasn’t able to fit my usual CKO workouts in. Even though I kickbox often, 7 days of no exercise is just too long! Must keep it moving! I am soo looking forward to getting back to class tonight and making my muscles work!
It’s interesting how different your body feels after not working out for a week. I’d take the stairs and walk during my breaks but it wasn’t the same…at all!
Can’t wait for a great WHOOPING tonight!

So this passed September I was in Laguna Beach, CA visiting my brother and I took a beach boot camp class. I made it through… Powered through the sand (completely covered I might add) grape vines up and down hill, up and down stairs, ran sprints, butt kickers, High knees and more, all the while thinking I can’t wait to get back to CKO and show what I’ve learned.
I have officially met the CKO BOOT CAMP queen! Tonight, I took Emily’s class and was at first a bit nervous, new to me, not sure what her teaching style would be… Let me tell you… I am definitely feeling it now and for sure will feel it tomorrow! High intensity, constant, non stop action!

Lately, people have been asking me what I do to stay and keep in shape. I answer them with a resounding “KickBoxing”! I truly feel this is the best workout for someone who gets bored easily in a gym. CKO is the best of both worlds! As a member, you are able to take unlimited classes and have use of their 24 hour gym. SO…if you do want to lift weights, run on the treadmill, or ride the bike you can definitely do so.
Personally, I enjoy the kickboxing classes and trying each instructors class. Everyone instructs their classes differently, so it’s important to switch it up. Last night, I took Shaun’s class. Talk about running your tush off! Great class! Great workout and I was definitely feeling the repercussion of his class after I had sat down for a little while. Always a good feeling!

It’s a new year! Time to keep the momentum going or get yourself moving in the right direction. If you’re looking for an activity that will keep your interest, then kickboxing was designed for you! High intensity coupled with cross training and kickboxing to boot! I’m in love!
I’ve tried traditional workouts with machines and found myself bored, not pushing myself and barely breaking a sweat. Kickboxing at CKO, trust me you will find yourself competing with yourself. Pushing yourself beyond and loving every minute of the 60 minute class! Get in! Get out! Quick and dirty! Push yourself to the max at CKO and you’ll see the fabulous results that come with all your hard work and efforts. The holidays are drawing to a close and the new year is upon us! Instead of vowing to join a gym in the new year, why don’t you vow to just get healthy and join the CKO family! Don’t look at getting healthy as a chore, look at it as a new mindset. Change your way of thinking about eating healthy, or healthier, finding an activity( like kickboxing at CKO) that you enjoy and take off those extra unwanted LB’s.

What you have heard is all true! Results are immediate at CKO! The harder you work, the more results you will see! Lately, I’ve been seeing a lot of newscasters talk about holiday weight gain, how to keep the pounds off, so on and so forth. What they fail to mention is motivation! SELF Motivation to be exact! Yes, a 1 hour kickboxing class at CKO will change your life, put you on the right path with a phenomenal workout regime, but you have to be self motivated in order for it to work.
You must be willing to put in the time and energy… Trust me, you will see a HUGE payout in the end. A vast return on your investment if you will. I’ve been kickboxing for 2.5 years, I don’t know what I would do without CKO.O I look forward to each class, getting a good sweat on and of course fitting into my clothes in a way I haven’t in years!

“Practice makes perfect”, that’s what my dance instructors would always say. The same rules apply in kickboxing as well. Think of the punches, kicks, side slips and more as choreography. The more you come to class, the easier the choreography will come, and of course, the stronger you will become.
I always like to make sure I’m doing things correctly… if you really want to maximize the most of what CKO has to offer, ask the instructors for assistance. They will show you and teach you the proper techniques for getting the most out of your round house kicks, cross punches and more! Each instructor teaches class differently. It’s important to switch it up, so you work different muscle groups. Muslces have memory…if you keep doing the same thing, you will never see the kind of results that you would like.
Push yourself! Your body will thank you…. and your new year’s resolution won’t be to “work out more”

But the fire inside CKO is SOOOO delightful!!! By fire, I mean all of the calories being burned off by taking a class at CKO! The holidays are upon us… lots of drinking, lots of eating, and more eating… you can never have just 1 cookie. The best way to maintain all the hard work you have accomplished all year is to continue working just as hard as you have been. Don’t deprive yourself of that glass of eggnog or “holiday cookies”. You can eat them…. just don’t “fall off the wagon” so to speak. It’s so easy to say “it’s ok, there’s only 3 weeks left of the year…I’ll get back into the gym in January”. Don’t think that way. If you make kickboxing or running or interval training a priority, you won’t have to “Get back on the wagon” in the new year.

We all need balance. Equal balance (hopefully) between work and play, between family and friends. I was a dancer growing up, I danced for 14 years of my life before breaking my ankle
Dancing however, taught me balance and discipline. A core kind of balance. As I got older, I searched for some kind of activity that would teach me the same kind of discipline that dance taught me. Enter kickboxing @ CKO! Kickboxing has made my core much much stronger! A strong core aids in sitting up straighter, standing up straighter, doing push ups properly as well as planks!
Kickboxing for me, helps to keep a healthy balance within my mental and physical well being. To quote Elle Woods, “Exercise builds endorfins, endorfins make you happy”. You will feel so much better A) with balance in your life and B) kickboxing your way to you a better, healthier you!

While food shopping today (before taking class at 5:30) I stumbled upon 2 women talking about exercising. 1 woman was telling the other how she finds the time in her daily schedule to workout. The other just kept saying how busy she was, how tired she was an how she didn’t have the time.
Of course I politely entered the convo amongst the 2 women and agreed. You must find the time! Take this 1 hour for yourself. Clear your head, be alone with your thoughts. Whether you are running, kickboxing, lifting, whatever. FIND THE TIME! It is so important! Not just for your mental sanity, but for your overall physical health. You will feel so much better! Your head will be clear and your body for sure will thank you.
