While there is a tad ( and I do mean a TAD) bit of down time (country) at CKO during your hour long work out… it’s mostly rock ‘n’ roll… INTENSE… INSANE… IN YOUR FACE  calorie burning, dripping sweat all over the place!  Isn’t that what your “gym” experience should be?

Who wants to work out and keep it monotonous, mundane, boring… T H E    S A M E     R O U T I N E     E V E R Y D A Y… Not I said the fly!  During each class you learn about the fundamentals of a good work out.  What to eat, how to eat properly to keep the fabulous physique that CKO enables you to have!  It’s a wonderful thing!  CKO also teaches you the fundamentals of becoming a GREAT kickboxer!  Able to defend yourself if the situation should ever arise.  There is always a life lesson in each class at cko…

I guess you could call me a planner… I make lists… I like to plan in advance.  While some people wait until the last minute to go on a crash diet to fit into their wedding dress….. I’m planning ahead.   No, I’m not engaged, however, I don’t want to run into a problem when that time comes.  Shoulda, Woulda, Coulda…

So I joined CKO to aid me in getting my body ready for dress fittings, wedding day, baby.  Not only can you take AWESOME classes, they can also help you and counselor you with your food diary, pretty much be your nutritionist.  It’s one stop shopping at CKO!

While I may not be engaged or planning my wedding day… I am getting myself into shape for the long haul and couldn’t be happier with the results!  Call them and see for yourself!  I would never steer you wrong!  You’ll look FABulous in your pictures!!!

I don’t have a competitive bone in my body.  I played soccer as a kid and would rather suck my thumb than charge the ball (insert joke here)

Instead… I danced.. I danced until I was 15 and then broke my ankle.. never was the same after that… I never really worked out much.. except for when I was in college and could use the free gym at school… Other than that I never really wanted to.

Since I’ve been coming to CKO I have noticed that I DO  have a competitive bone in my body!  It’s within myself.  I have never worked out so hard before in my life.  At other gyms you run on the treadmill, walk the stair climber, lift weights and don’t really care about what the next person is doing because you are too busy talking on the phone to care… HERE you want to kick and punch and sprint faster then the person next to you or in front of you.  PUSH your self!  FORCE yourself!  Then you ask… WWCND?

I’ll tell you WWCND… He would reach the point of exhaustion and keep going!  Find that reserve of energy our bodies store up and USE it just when you think you can’t go any more.

For anyone who is looking to ramp up their work out routine… bored of the mundane exercise videos… Take a 2nd look at CKO!  You will see immediate results, love the way your NEW body looks and can even get into a 10 week challenge!  Instructors are there to help you, encourage you and track your food diaries as well for those of us wanting not only to tone up but lose those last 10lbs we just can’t seem to shake!

How many times have you gone to class all geared up to have your tush handed to you… and you just aren’t feelin it?  They always say the hardest part is just walking in the door… YEAH, OK!  Truly, the idea behind Kickboxing is to keep your body moving.  With running laps, sprints, push ups, squat thrust jumpers…No matter what it is YOU MUST KEEP YOUR BODY MOVING!

Not only is it important to breath through out your work out, you must also drink plenty of water or fluids to keep yourself hydrated.  If you stay stagnant, certainly you will not see results in your physique that I would assume you would like to see.  I can not express again how important is to Keep Your Body Movin’!

It’s been said that you can burn 800-1,000 calories in any one kickboxing class!  Like anything else… you get out what you put in to it.  You can work out as hard as you want or just enough to get by.

Look at it this way… If you just want to gear up enough to get your heart rate up, blood flowing through your veins… you’ll get that at CKO.  However… if you want to get your heart rate up, blood flowing through your veins, sweat dripping from every inch of your being and FEEL THE BURN… YOU’LL GET THAT CKO!

I have found that you get your best workout when you have something pushing you… other than your instructor.  You must findthe motivation within yourself.  Get MAD!  Get Angry! Take all of your feelings and aggression out on the heavy bag!  Trust me… your body will thank you later!

hahaha as a side note… you know you’ve had a great class when you are bordering on puking!

Technique…Technique…Technique

IF there is 1 thing I’ve learned thus far from CKO it’s TECHNIQUE!  In order to see REAL results…REAL FAST you must hone your technique!  Square your hips, throw your punches from your waist.  Trust me you will find your punches, jabs and crosses have so much more power then if you throw straight from your arm.  Follow through… always!  Remember to breathe!

Push yourself!  You are your own worst enemy!  These instructors are awesome!  But they can only motivate you so much… the REST IS UP TO YOU!  Push harder, Punch stronger!  Take these TECHNIQUES we are learning and use them!  Think Combat…. Hopefully we will never have to use these moves we are learning… but trust me… they are an excellent form of defense.

I can not express to you all how important it is to listen to what the CKO instructors are shouting out to us (cause the music they play is awesome! )  That alone should get you in the door!  LISTEN, work it out on the bag and then TAKE IT OUT ON THE BAG!

Who needs a personal trainer?!

OK here’s what I’ve decided… you can do 1 of 2 things.  Either spend the money on a personal trainer, have them run you on the treadmill, lift weights, do the stair master… so on and so on.. OR take a class at CKO and have your Personal Trainer built right in to the class!  I choose option 2!

I now have a few classes under my belt and I can confidently say that a Personal Trainer is in fact a WASTE of $$$$!  If you don’t want to join right away… no worries!  Each class is $20.00.  They are soo awesome here!  Each class begins with a stretch, possibly a run too and then we get right in to it!  Did you know you can burn the same if not more calories in 1 kickboxing class then you can spending 2 hours at the gym!?  How crazy is that!!!!

Get to a CKO today!  I promise you, you won’t regret it!  Tell you friends!  Tell your friends friends!!  Stop wasting your money at the gym and start kickboxing today!  It is definitely the best thing I have ever done!

IN THE BEGINNING…..

So I decided to make one of the HOTTEST days this week, my first day at CKO!  What was I thinking?!  But I have to tell ya… Heat, Humidity have NOTHING on the work out I just had!  I don’t know why I waited so long before walking in that door!

I had heard so much about it from people around, facebook of course, and word of  mouth but just didn’t feel I was ready for what they were going to hand me.  I wasn’t ready, but I loved it!  Loved how interactive the class is.  The 60 minutes flies by!!!  You really sweat your butt off!  And I mean that quite literally!  I already feel a difference!!!

There is a sign in the door that says “REAL HEAVY BAGS….REAL RESULTS”!  They are not kidding!!  I recommend CKO Whippany and their other location in Randolph to anyone who is tired of their other workout regimen.  The music, the instructors, the workout itself is enough to keep coming back!  I will definitely be back to CKO…again and again and again!

Best new workout I have discovered… with the help of my friends of course….

Karate Kid

Today was Father’s Day…. A day we celebrate our father’s, new father’s and soon to be father’s.   My dad wanted to see the New Karate Kid.  I’m a product of the 80’s so the original rang true to me.  I have to admit though… the remake was actually quite entertaining.  I found it inspiring actually.  No, I’m not running out to join a Do Jo or learn Kung Fu.  Call me a sucker for fight movies, like Never Back Down, Karate Kid, Fighting.

I found the underlying meaning of the movie was merely Don’t be afraid to defend yourself.  The best thing about CKO is that with the moves you learn during each class, they can be applied in Self Defense.  You can never be too careful, whether you are a woman or a man.  I’m not saying run out and learn to protect yourself so you can fight, however, the simplist of things can be a defense move…. as easy as putting on, taking off, and hanging up your jacket!

At CKO, we’re taught to never accept defeat!  The hardest part is walking in the door.  Now look at it from a different angle…  The next class you take pay more attention to the moves you’re learning.  You never know when you may need to actually put them to good use… other than to hit the heavy bag!

The best work out you’ll ever have… and walk away with knowledge that you can do anything, be anything and that we are all forces to be reckoned with!!

You know that song…. Yes, I know you know that song!  ”Sometimes you wanna go, where everybody knows your name… da da da da… and they’re always glad you came… da da da da… you wanna be where everybody knows your name”!

That is the exact feeling you get when you walk into CKO Whippany and Randolph!  Who wants to go to a gym where they greet you by the last 4 digits of your credit card #.  I sure wouldn’t.  No matter if you are a potential member taking your first class or you haven’t been to class in a while… Every instructor knows your name, will ask about you and help you during class so you can punch and kick to your fullest potential!

I’ve been talking about CKO ever since I began!  People always say… “You’ll just know”, well I fell in love with CKO from day one!  FINALLY my friends have started to take notice and are taking classes all over NJ!  I don’t care which location you go to, I mean I would love for you to come to Whippany or Randolph, but if these locations aren’t conducive to where you live, find a location near you and sign up!  It is the bestest workout ever and you will see IMMEDIATE results!  Let’s make the summer of 2010 the best summer ever!
